A pregnant woman is dead after police fatally shot her at a Kroger in Blendon Township on Thursday evening. Authorities say 21-year-old Ta'Kiya Young stole multiple bottles of alcohol from a supermarket, and was pursued by two officers as she ran to her car.
One police officer moved in front of the vehicle when Young began accelerating forward. The officer fired one shot through the front windshield, killing her.
Young was pregnant with a daughter that was due in November.
The shooting was reportedly captured on body cam video that has not yet been made public. The officers have been placed on leave pending an investigation.
