A Hawaiian man is dead after he was ambushed by four large dogs in what police are calling an “unprovoked attack.”
The incident happened Tuesday morning on Hawaii’s Big Island, police say. A resident who heard “a commotion outside his residence” went outside to find “the victim being attacked in the roadway by four large dogs,” according to the Hawaii P.D. Although the resident managed to chase the dogs away, it was too late for the 70something-year-old victim, police say.
Police were able to track down the dogs’ owners, who “surrendered all four dogs and a litter of 10 puppies to the Hawaii County Animal Control and Protection Agency,” a police statement reads. As of Wednesday, the case was still under investigation and no charges had been filed.
