ISS Sends Tomato Samples Back To Earth

A SpaceX cargo vessel splashed down over the weekend, carrying samples from NASA's attempts to grow tomatoes in outer space.

The samples are from the 'Veg-O5' experiment, which includes three harvests of dwarf tomatoes grown inside a miniature greenhouse on the International Space Station.

NASA hopes the experiments will allow astronauts to eventually grow their own food - but could also develop technologies used to better grow food here on Earth as well.
