CLEVELAND, OH--- The Cavs continue to dominate at home, winning their 27th home game Saturday night against the visiting Detroit Pistons 114-90. The Cavs have now swept the season series with the Pistons, going a perfect 4-0. The Cavs have the 3rd best home record in the NBA, behind the Denver Nuggets (29-4) and Milwaukee Bucks (27-5).
The Cavs have now held a team under 100 points for the 28th time this year after Saturday night. Early on in the game, it was the Donovan Mitchell show, with ankle breaking crossovers, 3 pointers, layups, you name it. Mitchell was all over the floor in the first quarter. Mitchell was carrying all momentum especially with a monstrous dunk to extend the Cavs lead to 14-6 with 7 minutes left in the first. Mitchell would finish the game with 20 points, 4 assist and 3 rebounds. Mitchell would end up leaving the game early in the 3rd quarter with a left finger sprain, he would be ruled to be able to return to the game, but since the Cavs were up so big he did not. The Cavs as a whole were moving the ball around very well in the first quarter, but the Pistons were still close behind, with Cleveland heading into the locker room with only a 9 point lead.
The 3rd quarter would see the Cavs start to run away with the game, the Cavs would get out to a 70-54 lead via a Mitchell to Mobley lob which extinguished any fire the Pistons had left. Speaking of Mobley, he would finish with a double-double tonight with 16 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 blocks. Alongside the Mobley dunk, the Cavs would end up outscoring the Pistons 42-21in the 3rd quarter, and it was all Cleveland from there. Other standout Cavs included Jarrett Allen and Darius Garland. Allen would score 15 points and 5 rebounds, while Garland would score 21 points, dished out 7 assist and make 83% of his 3 pointers attempted on the night.
The Cavs will start a big week, facing multiple Eastern Conference playoff teams, kicking it off with the Boston Celtics Monday night from Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. Tip-off is set for 7:00 pm and you can hear it on WTAM 1100 AM, 106.9 FM, the free iHeartRadio app, or HERE
