The Transportation Security Administration says it confiscated a record number of guns at airports in 2022.
Over 6,542 weapons - about 18 per day - were intercepted at TSA checkpoints last year.
Experts say nearly every case involved a traveler who claims they forgot they had a gun with them.
The penalty for getting caught with a gun, even accidentally, is steep - with a maximum fine of nearly $15,000.
