Cleveland State Defeats Youngstown State 81-78 In A Classic

CLEVELAND, OH--- The Vikings and Penguins put on an all time classic on Super Bowl Sunday, with the Vikings taking the win 81-78. This was the 101st meeting between the two universities with the rivalry dating back to 1930.

CSU evened up the season series in a battle of two Horizon League heavyweights, both teams put on a show for the game of the year. Tae Williams was among 4 Vikings in double figures, he had a stellar first half, scoring 12 and finishing with 20 on the day. The game was back and forth, but for the first half YSU was in control, but as we neared the end of the half with a little over a minute to go the Vikings would on on a 11-0 run to go up 30-26. YSU though ended in electric fashion, with Myles Hunter stealing the ball from Deante Johnson and making a 3 pointer at the buzzer.

The second half was just a electric as the first, until the last few minutes of the game, neither team lead by more then 6 all afternoon. Another big time performer for the Vikes was Tristan Enaruna, who would finish with 18 points while pulling in 6 rebounds. In the last 4 and a half minutes was when crunch time began, CSU would go out to a 4 point lead, thanks to 3 made free throws from Yahel Hill making the score 63-59. Other Vikings in double figures included Deshon Parker who finished with 12 points, and Drew Lowder who finished with 15.
