Sony Pictures has confirmed a rumor superstar Will Smith started on Instagram earlier this week: a new “Bad Boys” movie is on the way. The studio also revealed that “Bad Boys For Life” directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, who have since gone on to direct “Ms. Marvel” and “Rebel,” are returning to the franchise.
The “Fresh Prince” star posted an announcement on Instagram on Tuesday with comedian and co-star Martin Lawrence. In it, Smith drives to an unknown location only to reveal Lawrence who greets Smith with “It’s about that time?” The pair celebrates their reunion before announcing the new installment in their successful action/comedy franchise.
The original “Bad Boys,” released in 1995, was an immediate success- grossing $141 million and launching Smith and Lawrence further into stardom. Each entry since, 2003’s “Bad Boys II” and pre-pandemic 2020’s “Bad Boys For Life,” has grossed more than the one before it. This will be the fourth chapter in the “Bad Boys” franchise.
