According to new federal data, the life expectancy level in the US is alarmingly low.

The National Center for Health Statistics of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has found that the life expectancy rate has decreased to 76.4 years down from 77 years two years ago which was the lowest rate since 1996.

The blame for the low number goes to the COVID-19 outbreak and the rise in drug overdoses.

The number stayed about the same for men and women and almost all racial groups.
