Fire Engulfs NYPD Storage Facility in Red Hook, Brooklyn

After a massive fire ripped through the NYPD storage facility in Red Hook, Brooklyn on Tuesday, officials say they are trying to salvage what they can. Firefighters say the fire could take days before it is fully extinguished. At least eight people were hurt, including six first responders but they are expected to make a full recovery.

The NYPD uses the property to store a range of evidence, including e-bikes and motor vehicles connected to crimes and more. NYPD Officials are afraid that the fire can set back a number of cases, as the warehouse had biological evidence, DNA, things from past crimes, burglaries, vehicles and more. Although they don't know the full extent of the damage at this time, this is just one of several places where the NYPD stores evidence, so most cases will not be affected.
