The Florida county, which is located in the area that was hit hardest by Hurricane Ian, is now reporting a dramatic uptick in cases involving a flesh-eating bacteria. So far this year, Lee County has reported 29 cases of vibrio vulnificus, according to the Lee County Department of Health. “Flood waters and standing waters following a hurricane pose many risks, including infectious diseases such as vibrio vulnificus,” reads a statement issued by the county.
