CLEVELAND- Supporters and volunteers for the Cleveland Metroparks gathered together at The Foundry located in The Flats to announce Issue 5. Issue 5 is a levy renewal proposed by the Cleveland Metroparks that would add two monthly dollars for every 100,000 dollars of property value. Some notable speakers were the CEO of the Cleveland Metroparks, Brian Zimmerman, Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb, and Debbie Berry, the President of the Cleveland Metroparks Board.

The Metro Parks have not had an increase in funds in nine years. This levy would provide the Cleveland Metroparks with 62% of its essential budget.

You can watch the announcement in full below.

The Cleveland Metroparks would look to maintain parks and continue education programs about the environment. Also, some funding would support the Cleveland Zoo and enhance access to parks across the county.

Issue 5 will be on the ballot on November 8th.
