Bay Village Police Blotter 2 People Popped For Passing School Buses

BAY VILLAGE - On 09/11/2022, at 1537 hrs, a BVPD officer observed a vehicle in the area of Dover Center and Wolf Rd. with the registered owner/operator showing several active arrest warrants and a suspended driver’s license. The officer lost sight of the vehicle in heavy traffic, but it was located a few minutes later parked in the Heinen’s parking lot. Officer located the owner, who was also the driver, inside the store. After confirming the warrants, the male was arrested on the strength of the warrant from Fairview Park. The male was also cited with Driving Under Suspension and Expired License Plates. A search of his vehicle incident to arrest turned up suspected drugs and drug paraphernalia. These items will be sent off to the lab for testing and possible additional charges. The 42-yoa Middleburg Heights resident will face charges at RRMC.

On 09/11/2022, at 0226 hrs, a BVPD officer observed a vehicle make several traffic violations on Lake Rd. near Upland. Due to the vehicles speed, the officer briefly lost sight of it, but broadcast a description of the vehicle to nearby cities. Rocky River PD observed the vehicle and stopped it on I-90.BVPD arrived on scene a short time later. After speaking with the 20-yoa male driver, the officer suspected the driver had been drinking. Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result, the driver was arrested for OVI. The Lakewood resident will face charges at RRMC.

On 09/09/2022, at 2350 hrs, BVPD officers were dispatched to Arlington Circle for a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, officers located a female seated in the roadway and a male standing next to her. The female was admittedly highly intoxicated. The male stated the couple had left a bar and he was dropping her off at her house before he headed home to Canton. After speaking with the male, the officer suspected the male had been drinking. Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result, the male was arrested for OVI. The 28-yoa Canton resident will face charges at RRMC. The female arranged for a ride home. 

On 09/09/2022, a Bay Village City School bus driver reported that his stopped school bus was passed by a motorist while dropping of kids in the 30000 block of Wolf Rd. The bus had its stop sign deployed and flashers on when passed. After reviewing the video, the female driver was identified. The 18-yoa Bay Village resident was cited for Passing a Stopped School Bus and will face charges at RRMC. 

On 09/09/2022, at 0840 hrs, a Bay Village City School bus driver reported that his stopped school bus was passed by a motorist while dropping kids off in the 29000 block of Osborn. The bus had its stop sign deployed and flashers on when passed. After reviewing the video, the male driver was identified. The 77-yoa Bay Village resident was cited for Passing a Stopped School Bus and will face charges at RRMC.

On 09/07/2022, at 0700 hrs. a resident in the 27000 block of East Oviatt reported his 2014 Jeep Wrangler had been stolen. He had parked the Jeep in his driveway the evening before around 1830 hrs, and when he came out at 0630 hrs the Jeep was gone. The keys were left in the vehicle along with approximately $4,000 in tools. Police are investigating. BVPD reminds residents to please lock your vehicles and remove any valuables.
