Fender Bender Results In Robbery One Suspect Arrested Three Still At Large

SOLON - What looked to be a traffic accident turned into an aggravated robbery, and a suspect has been arrested.

Officers responded to Glennallen Ave in Solon Tuesday after a 62-year-old man from Beachwood called to report that two men had stolen his car at gunpoint.

The victim told police that he was driving on Glennallen Ave in his black Volvo s90 Sedan. That's when a gray Kia SUV bumped into the back of his car. The victim then stopped to get out of the vehicle to check the damage.

That's when the victim says he was approached at gunpoint by two young-looking men who demanded his belonging; the victim followed the demands. The two suspects then got into his car and drove away, followed by the gray Kia SUV. Another young man drove the SUV. The victim told police all of the men involved wore medical facemasks.

Officers were able to find the stolen car by using its tracking system. Police found the stolen car in a parking lot in Garfield Hts. Garfield Hts. police tried to stop the driver, but he took off on foot.

Police caught up to and arrested the driver of the stolen car, 18-year-old Thomas Williams of Maple Heights. Williams was taken to Solon Jail, where he was charged with Aggravated Robbery, Receiving Stolen Property, and Having Weapon Under Disability. He is being held on a $135,000 bond.

Police still need help finding the other suspects and the gray Kia SUV. The suspects are described as young African American males, possibly teenagers. At this time, police believe three or four people may have been involved.
