James Caan, known to movie fans as one of the most iconic movie characters of all time, the hotheaded Sonny Corleone of "The Godfather" and to television audiences as doomed football player Brian Piccolo in the classic "Brian's Song" and countless other roles has died, his family said today. Caan died at the age of 82 on Wednesday, his family announced on Twitter. "It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Jimmy on the evening of July 6. They did not mention a cause of death.
