Akron Police Provide Update on Ethan Liming

AKRON - Police gave updates on the death of Firestone student Ethan Liming. According to police, on Thursday night, around 10:40, four 17-year-olds went to the I Promise School. Two of the four 17-year-olds began to fire a SplatRBall gun at people playing basketball on the I Promise School Basketball courts.

Authorities have made it a point to say they do not believe the attack was racially motivated.

At this time, none of the suspects' names have been released because the investigation is ongoing.

Thursday night, people present at the altercation rushed home and called 911. Officers and EMS arrived within minutes to find the Liming unconscious with severe injuries. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Liming's death is being investigated as a homicide.
