KANSAS CITY, MO--- The Guardians and Royals went the mile plus some in Kansas City as the Royals defeated the Guardians 1-0 on a walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th inning. Both teams played absolute lights-out defense, diving plays, and leaping catches in the outfield, you name it, but Kansas City managed to warm up the bats just at the right time.
Adalberto Mondesi's bat was responsible for the winning and only run of the game on a shallow center field base hit to bring in Kyle Isbel to score. Zach Plesac was on the mound for the Guardians, he went a little over 5 innings allowing 3 hits while striking out 3. Emmanuel Clase, who recently signed a 5 year deal with Cleveland came in to close the game, but ultimately gave up the losing run, he moves to 0-1 on the year. The Guardians totaled 5 hits in the game vs the Royals totaling 6. Steven Kwan lead the Guardians in hits by going 2 for 3 on the day.
The Guardians continue their opening series in Kansas City tomorrow at 2:10 when Cal Quantrill takes the mound against the Royals.
