Lakewood Schools Dropping Mandatory Mask Requirement

(Lakewood) - Starting when students return to class after the Presidents' Day holiday, students in the Lakewood City Schools will no longer have to wear a face mask in class. They will have to wear one while riding a school bus.

Lakewood City Schools superintendent Maggie Niedzwiecki says, that from this point on,,it will be up to families to determine if a student will wear a face mask in class. Niedzwiecki says the district is in a position to end mandatory face mask wearing because of a reduction in COVID cases, and the Ohio Department of Health eliminating close contact-tracing, and required quarantines.

Niedzwiecki believes 10-20 percent of students and staff will continue to wear masks om c;ass/
