On DE Myles Garrett’s postgame comment about the team not making enough adjustments during the game:
“Obviously, the game did not go the way we wanted it to yesterday so we can all sit here and say this play, this play and that or whatever it was. I think Myles is more so speaking as the whole team, we did not play well. I think that was his main thing. We did not play well enough as players. Obviously, coaches are going to say they could have done some things differently. At the end of the day, we lost the game. We have to flush it and move on. Myles at the end of the day is a leader. He probably would be a captain if we had captains. Everybody looks up to him. He understands that. He owned it himself. We all own it. We all played a part in this loss, and we have to fix it.”
On if the Browns need to do better with in-game adjustments:
“We have to do a better job all around, if I am completely honest, all three phases playing. I am pretty sure, like I said, coaches are going to say they could coach better, but at the end of the day, we have to find a way to win. That is everyone in this organization doing their job and everybody stepping up and making plays and helping the team win. That is the main thing. We have to focus on winning and doing the little things that it takes to win and get back to the practice field on Wednesday.”
On the Patriots having success with screens, reverses, motion and disguises:
“They did a couple of little scheme things as far as making plays look the same or whatever it was. At the end of the day, I think we reacted in a positive way most times, but a couple of plays, one player out of place or I am out of place and I fit the wrong gap or I went the wrong way on a screen one time. Just little things like that, we have to be better. We have to be better all around. That is the only way I can put it. We are focusing on the Lions now obviously. Yeah, they did some things that we need to correct. We have to be better.”
On if the Browns have conversations on the sideline to make adjustments to respond better:
“You definitely want to correct it and try to figure out a way to stop the bleeding. Again, obviously, first-down defensive, I thought we played really well. We got them to second-and-11 and second-and-13 a couple of times and then we would give up a 10-yard gain or a 20-yard gain. We can’t do that. You play well on first down, even if we hold them to five or six-yard gain on second down, now it is third-and-six or third-and-five, and I think that is more manageable for us, not third-and-1. In the whole third quarter, they only had one third down. The rest of the game, it was first and second down and first and second down, and they did not have a third down until the fourth quarter. Obviously, that is the players and the coaches getting it fixed. We all take part in that, just like we all take part in this loss. We will be better. We will learn from it.”
On if yesterday’s loss is ‘tougher to shake than others’:
“I hate losing. All losses hurt the same way. Whether we lose 3-2 or 100-0, whatever it is, it hurts. It hurst to lose. You put so much time, energy and effort in, but again, that is why we play this game. This is what we signed up for is the highs and the lows. We can’t ride the wave of emotion. We have to stay locked in on the process. Everything is still out in front of us – our division, the playoffs and everything like that – but we can’t focus on that right now. We have to focus on getting better, fundamentals, details, getting to the practice field on Wednesday and cleaning it up and then going 1-0 this week against the Detroit Lions.”
