Officer Involved Shooting In Rocky River

ROCKY RIVER, OH - On Monday at about 1:45 AM, Rocky River Police Dispatch received a call from an on-duty federal law enforcement agent who reported he was on the phone with a woman who said she was armed with a handgun and knife and threatening harm to a politician and herself. The agent reported that the caller, a 42-year-old woman, was at the Linden House Apartments, 3303 Linden Rd.

Rocky River police officers responded. As officers were waiting outside the apartment the subject entered the hallway armed with a knife, ignored officer’s commands to drop the knife, and charged at officers. One officer deployed a taser and a second officer fired his Department issued handgun, stopping the subject’s armed assault.

Officers began immediate first aid and the subject was transported by the Rocky River Fire Department to MetroHealth Medical Center where she is being treated.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation was contacted and responded to process the crime scene and investigate the circumstances of the officer involved shooting. Three Rocky River Officers are on temporary administrative leave in accordance with Department policy. The officer involved in the shooting is an eleven-year veteran with the Department.
