On being on pace to break Pro Football Hall of Fame DE Michael Strahan’s single-season sack record and if he thinks about that pace:
“No, I think about we had a chance to win multiple times last week, and we did not get it done. Now, it is just a matter of making those plays to get us off the field, get us the ball and change the game in our favor. That is what I am thinking about. Will I break the record or not? That is to be seen.”
On Cardinals QB Kyler Murray:
“I have been playing this guy for years now. High school, played with him in college and in the pros. It is the same story. He is quick. He can throw. He is fast enough to burn you on the edge if you give him a single lane. We have to respect him, but we have to get after him. We can’t allow him to make those plays that you see.”
On if he knew Murray would be a future No. 1 pick in high school and college:
“Dude did not lose a game in high school. Most guys who do not do that, they end up being something in the league.”
On Murray dancing in the pocket to avoid pressure:
“We are calling it dancing now (laughter)? We just have to make sure that if he sees something and sees a gap, that it is not there once he starts to run at it and try to always keep awareness of where he is going to be and where is he is trying to get to and where our holes are in our rush and try to close those up so he has to either go backwards before he goes forwards and gets a chance to get there.”
On the adjustments he has to make when playing someone like Murray who can drop back deeper into the pocket:
“I would not say they fool you, but it is not always like that. Sometimes they drop three step or five step. Sometimes they drop it off and then right to throw. You see those big plays where he drops out very far, it makes you think that he is dropping back and have a good chance to beat him of the edge and just get there. They change it up so it is not always those tendencies that you see on the highlights, and that is good by them because if that were the case all the time, I think then me and JD (DE Jadeveon Clowney) would have a field day.”
