Mayor's Grandson Shot Dead

(Cleveland) - Police are looking for clues and a suspect in Sunday night's shooting death of 24-year-old Frank Q. Jackson, grandson of Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson.

The younger Jackson was shot and killed around 9 p.m Sunday. A tweet from Cleveland Police says it happened at Kinsman Road and Sidaway, which is near East 70th at the Garden Valley Estates public housing complex.

Reports from the scene say that the mayor, Chief of Police Calvin Williams, and Safety Director Karrie Howard were at the shooting scene afterward. They would not comment.

Frank Q. Jackson has been in the news in recent years because of his relation to the mayor, and because of all the crimes with which he's been charged. He pleaded guilty in 2019 to misdemeanor assault after a fight with his then-girlfriend. He had been charged in connection with a murder case. Pending was a case involving Parma Police, in which the younger Jackson allegedly dragged an officer with his car while trying to flee, and then leading Parma Police on a chase into Cleveland.
