(Chagrin Falls) - State Senator Matt Dolan (R-Chagrin Falls) has joined a crowded list of Republican candidates for the US Senate seat being vacated next year by Rob Portman.
Dolan says what sets him apart from the other GOP candidates is that he considers himself a traditional Republican, not one who is trying to emulate former President Donald Trump. He also says he's the only GOP member running who has legislative experience. Dolan is currently in his second term as a state rep.
Dolan is part-owner of the Cleveland Indians, soon to be renamed the Cleveland Guardians.
Other GOP members trying to get the nomination to run for Portman's seat are former State Treasurer Josh Mandel, former Ohio GOP chair Jane Timken, author and venture capitalist JD Vance, car dealer Bernie Moreno, and investment banker Mike Gibbons. On the Democrat side, US Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Niles) and attorney Morgan Harper have announced their candidacy.
