(Cleveland) - A report says that Cleveland manager Terry Francona will be back as the field boss of the team as it starts being known as the Cleveland Guardians.
Team president Chris Antonetti has told Zack Meisel of The Athletic that the team views Tito as its manager in 2022.
Francona stepped down in July because of health related issues, including the need for hip replacement surgery in August, and surgery on his left big toe in September. Because of that issue with the toe, Tito wore a walking boot most of the 2021 season. Tito was replaced by bench coach DeMarlo Hale.
Antonetti was quoted as saying there's "no reason to think" that Francona would not be back, and the team is also getting ready in the event that Tito can't return.
