(Cleveland, OH) - Momentum is being seen in renovations at Borromeo Seminary and St. Mary Seminary in Wickliffe as a major capital campaign in the Diocese of Cleveland, named Heart of a Shepherd continues to be successful.
The campaign took a prayerful pause in 2019 during the global health pandemic and picked back up in the spring of 2020.
Now entering its final rollout to a large cohort of parishes throughout the diocese, this significant moment of the campaign will be kicked off with an event on Monday, September 20, 3:00 p.m., at the Center for Pastoral Leadership, 28700 Euclid Ave, Wickliffe, OH 44092, to celebrate the campaign highlights and speak to the work that remains. The Most Rev. Edward C. Malesic will be joined by Fr. James Caddy and Fr. Mark Latcovich, as well as campaign chair Mr. Rick Schultz. The event will conclude with a tour of the seminaries' newly renovated east wing.
In response to the pandemic and its impact on local parishes, a fourth component was added to the Heart of a Shepherd campaign, designed to aid parishes in their recovery from the pandemic. To date, the campaign has raised $22 million toward the diocese's $30 million goal, which will renovate the seminaries, provide much-needed revenue for the Priest Pension Fund, and support newly ordained fund their undergraduate college costs. An additional $9 million has been raised to help local parishes.
The campaign, conducted by the Catholic Community Foundation, has a final cohort of 80+ parishes that will participate in this fall's rollout. More information regarding the Heart of a Shepherd campaign can be found at www.catholiccommunity.org/Heart-of-a-Shepherd.
