U.S. Marshals Arrest man Wanted for a 2015 Cleveland Homicide

Cleveland, OH - Members of the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force, on Thursday evening, arrested wanted fugitive 32-year-old Cameron Caldwell. Caldwell was wanted by Cleveland Division of Police for aggravated murder.

It is alleged on May 3, 2015 Caldwell shot and killed 32-year-old Dawn Welch inside her vehicle on Edgewood Ave. Caldwell was allegedly attempting to steal Welch’s vehicle, but Welch fought back against Caldwell and he ultimately shot her in the head.

Members of the U.S. Marshals violent fugitive task force, on Thursday, arrested Caldwell at a home on Biltmore Ave. During the arrest Caldwell attempted to flee on foot to evade officers but was caught after a short foot pursuit.

U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott stated, “The Cleveland Division of Police, homicide division, deserves credit for their outstanding work on this 6-year investigation. The victim’s family will hopefully get the justice they deserve after all this time.”
