(Cleveland) - The seven people running for mayor of Cleveland met in debate Tuesday night for the first time. In the event, live-streamed from the Idea Center on Playhouse Square, voters could hear from:
--City Councilman Basheer Jones
---Non-profit director Justin Bibb
--State Senator Sandra Williams
--Former Councilman Zack Reed
--Former Mayor and Congressman Dennis Kucinich
--Attorney Ross DiBello
--City Council President Kevin Kelley
Each answered a number of questions posed by Clevelanders in the debate hosted by The City Club of Cleveland and ideastream Public Media. A second debate will be next Tuesday, August 17.
The two candidates receiving the most votes in the September 14 primary will be on the general election ballot in November. The winner of that election will succeed Frank Jackson as the next Mayor of Cleveland.
