Cleveland, OH - On Monday August 2, 2021 at approximately 8pm, an off-duty Cleveland Police officer working at the Giant Eagle supermarket at 3050 W. 117th Street in Lakewood was involved in an officer involved shooting. Cleveland police say that the officer intervened in an argument inside of the store between two males and was informed that one of the males had a gun.
The officer encountered the armed man in the parking lot. The suspect then, reportedly, pulled his gun leading the officer to fire multiple shots at the victim. The 21 year old male suspect was shot in his hip. He was then taken to MetroHealth with non-life-threatening injuries where he remains confined. A gun was recovered at the scene. The shooting remains under investigation.
