(Columbus) - Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has told Columbus TV station WBNS-TV that guidance for mask mandates in schools will be announce "probably" on Monday.
The governor has said he's not in favor of another overall mask mandate, but says he is concerned about the safety of children, and about students, both vaccinated and un-vaccinated, being together in school.
DeWine says he's still pushing for people to be vaccinated, saying it's the best protection we have against the spread of the virus. Currently, no vaccine has been authorized for children under the age of 12.
Columbus City Schools announced Thursday they would require students and staff to wear masks when classes resume, and the Cleveland Metropolitan Schools have said a mask mandate will be in effect for at least the first five weeks of school.
