CLEVELAND – (May 24, 2021) – The Union Home Mortgage Cleveland Marathon announced today that the 2021 in-person race will be held Oct. 23-24 and will return to downtown Cleveland.
The marathon team is committed to holding a safe in-person event and has been working closely with health officials at the City of Cleveland, Cuyahoga County and the State of Ohio since the summer of 2020 to do so.
“We are thrilled to have a date for our in-person event and can’t wait to welcome our runners, volunteers and spectators back to Cleveland,” said Jack Staph, executive director of the Union Home Mortgage Cleveland Marathon. “We remain confident in our health and safety plan that has been developed with local and state health officials and University Hospitals, and we thank our runners for their patience and understanding.”
The health and safety of all participants are the marathon’s top priorities, and the team will continue to work with officials and its medical partner, University Hospitals Sports Medicine, to hold an event that is safe for all who participate. The marathon also held virtual races May 15-16 for those who preferred that option.
The marathon team is working with the city on the specific route and will release more details when it is finalized.
Registration for the in-person event is now open and can be completed on the marathon’s website at www.clevelandmarathon.com. More information, including updates and health and safety protocols, also can be found there and on the marathon’s social media channels.
