5-Year-Old Boy Killed in Parma Home Identified

PARMA, Ohio - The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office has identified a 5-year-old boy killed in a Parma home Thursday as Jax Ponomarenko.

Parma police were called to the scene in the 7400 block of Russell Avenue Thursday afternoon where, in the front yard, they reportedly confronted a 31-year-old man believed to be the boy's father. Witnesses report hearing a popping noise, but there is no confirmation on what led to the man being taken from the scene on a stretcher.

Police spent hours at the scene. The investigation continues as there is no word on an arrest or what led to what police are calling a suspected homicide.
