(Cleveland) - An apparent attempt by a driver to outrun a freight train resulted in that driver's death.
Before 7 a.m. Tuesday, a car tried to get around the lowered gates at a railroad crossing on London Avenue, just north of Euclid Avenue in Cleveland's South Collinwood neighborhood. That was confirmed to both Fox 8 and 19 News by the conductor of the freight train.
The car was badly mangled by the train. Cleveland Fire used the Jaws of Life to try to get the driver out of the car, but that driver was dead at the scene of the crash. Nobody else was in the car.
