(Cleveland) - A powerful voice is calling on Cleveland Ward 4 Councilman Kenneth Johnson to resign. Council President Kevin Kelley says Johnson should step down.
Kelley told The Plain Dealer and cleveland.com that he talked with Johnson about his options after Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost asked the Ohio Supreme Court to suspend Johnson. Suspension would keep Johnson from his job, but he would still be paid his salary.
Johnson was indicted and arrested last month on 15 federal counts, including theft in office, for allegedly steering federal money toward personal use.
Johnson was first elected to City Council in 1980, and recently took out nominating petitions to run for another term.
