(Medina County) - The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a crash on Tuesday that killed the driver of a pickup truck when it ran into an Ohio Department of Transportation snow plow.
According to the OSP, they got a call about 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, about a 2019 Toyota Tacoma that had rear-ended an ODOT plow that was plowing snow in the left lane of I-71 near State Route 83 outside Lodi. The driver of the Toyota pickup truck, 71-year-old Joseph W. Wheeler of Cleveland, died in the crash. The snow plow driver was not injured.
In the last two weeks, ODOT plows have been involved in 11 accidents across Ohio, compared with only eight such accidents all of last winter.
