Ohio Shortens Nightly COVID-19 Curfew

(Columbus) - Ohio Governor Mike DeWine was true to his word. Starting Thursday evening, January 28, the state's COVID-19 curfew will be pushed back from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m., which is good news for restaurants and bars.

The governor said if the state met a threshold of seven straight days with fewer than 3,500 total COVID-19 hospitalizations, the curfew would be shortened. The Ohio Department of Health says if hospitalizations reach seven straight days below 3,000, then the curfew will be pushed back to midnight.

The 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew went into effect in November in an attempt to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Restaurants and bars have been hurt by the curfew, as they have had to lose as much as four hours of business per night.
