Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force Arrests Lorain Shooting Suspect

Cleveland, OH - Late in the evening yesterday, members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) arrested Luiz Roman, 25. Roman was wanted by the Lorain Police Department for felonious assault.

Yesterday evening, Roman was riding a bicycle in the area of Washington Ave. in Lorain when he allegedly shot into an occupied vehicle. A male victim in the vehicle was struck once in the head. Roman immediately fled the scene.

Detectives from the Lorain Police Department quickly identified Roman as the suspect and a warrant for his arrest was issued. Members of the NOVFTF immediately responded to try and locate Roman. Within hours of the shooting members of the task force were able to locate Roman in a home on East 29th St. in Lorain. He was taken into custody without any incident and turned over to Detectives.

Roman is charged with felonious assault. He pleaded not guilty during arraignment Thursday morning and is scheduled to be back in Lorain Municipal Court Tuesday.

U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott stated, “Our task force worked closely with the Lorain Police Department to get this suspect off the streets as soon as he was identified, ensuring the safety of the Lorain community.”
