(Cleveland) - There have been as many as five thefts of Amazon trucks in Greater Cleveland in recent weeks, and now we're learning that this is happening all across the country.
That's because porch pirates are now being thwarted more and more by people who are installing video doorbells, or having packages delivered to locations where they won't sit around. So now, thieves are simply taking the whole truck while the driver is making a delivery, driving off, stealing packages, then abandoning the truck.
Cleveland.com reports that this is happening all across the country, in cities like Saint Paul, Washington, Houston, and Kansas City.
The most recent Amazon truck theft happened on Triskett Road in Cleveland's West Park neighborhood last Wednesday. Three others happened on the east side of Cleveland, and one happened in Cleveland Heights. None have been solved.
