State Reps File Papers To Impeach DeWine

(Columbus) -- A group of Republican state politicians from Southwest Ohio have filed articles of impeachment against Governor Mike DeWine.

Representative John Becker from Clermont County filed the motion Monday while being joined by Representatives Candice Keller, Nino Vitale, and Paul Zeltwanger.

Becker says the governor abused his power during the pandemic by vetoing Senate Bill 55, and his policies to stop COVID-19 made Ohio a hostile working environment.

Under State law, a majority in the Ohio House of Representatives must vote to impeach, which then moves to the state Senate for a trial requiring a two-thirds vote to convict.
