(Hinckley) - The best-known pickup football game in Northeast Ohio takes place on Thanksgiving morning, as the 31st annual Meadows Turkey Bowl will be held at 2659 Center Road in Hinckley.
All participants in the annual event agree to get a minimum of $2,000 in donations for Saint Vincent DePaul Society, but most usually earn much more than that. Last year, the event raised $390,000, and over the years, it has raised more than $2 million.
Pete Meadows, whose father started the event, says he now personally understands what it's all about. Saint Vincent DePaul Society uses the money for contributions to families who have someone battling cancer. Pete, himself, earlier this year was diagnosed with brain cancer.
