(Cleveland) - Jury trials in the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas have been postponed until January 19, because of the latest surge in coronavirus cases. The majority of the court's judges voted Monday to suspend jury trials. The judges had previously voted to postpone jury trials until December 1.
The court will remain open. Hearings will be held either by phone or video. Bench trials, in front of a judge without a jury, may still be scheduled. The Grand Juries will continue to meet.
Over the summer, Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court judges agreed to have jury trials on a limited basis, with many being held in large meeting rooms at the nearby Global Center for Health Innovation.
