Cleveland, OH — Holiday Lantern Tours at Hale Farm & Village transport guests to the holiday season in the nineteenth century Western Reserve. Guests will enjoy a 90-minute lantern lit tour of the grounds December 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 20, 22 & 23 beginning at 5:30pm nightly (reservations are required).
With lantern in hand, stroll through Hale Farm’s Wheatfield Village during the Christmas Season. The delightfully decorated historic houses set the backdrop to explore holiday customs and folklore from long ago. Meet the village residents and share in their family traditions. After each tour, guests are invited to enjoy cookies and hot cocoa.
“Hale Farm & Village’s Holiday Lantern Tours are a seasonal tradition; they evoke the sentiments of days past, and this year will explore the regional customs of immigrants to the Western Reserve during the nineteenth century,” commented Catherine Sterle, Acting Director of Hale Farm & Village. “In 2020 we are taking extra precautions to make this a safe holiday event by limiting group sizes and delivering programming outdoors where there is plenty of room to maintain proper distance.”
During all tour dates the MarketPlace at Hale Farm & Village will be open, featuring handcrafted at Hale gifts as well as favorite local artisan and Ohio made selections. Guests can enjoy a sweet treat, or a glass of Ohio-crafted mulled wine or seasonal beer.
Tours depart every fifteen minutes, beginning at 5:30pm, dress appropriately for this outdoor activity. Attendance at Holiday Lantern Tours requires reservations in advance. Reservations can be made by calling (330) 666-3711 ext. 1736 or by email at ahalmes@wrhs.org. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for members and $12 for children ages 3-12. Hale Farm & Village is committed to the health and safety of our guests, staff and volunteers. This year Holiday Lantern Tours will be updated to follow state safety guidelines. Groups will be limited to 10 people and programming will be delivered outside to provide plenty of room for social distancing, face coverings will be required.
Western Reserve Historical Society’s reopening playbook, the Restart Plan, has been developed in close consultation with legal counsel, arts and culture leaders, and following guidance from local health experts, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and Ohio’s Responsible Restart Ohio guidance for Consumer, Retail, Services and Entertainment. Our plan includes requirements for face coverings for employees and visitors, no contact transactions, advance timed-entry ticket sales, increased access to sanitizing stations, enhanced cleaning protocols, physical distancing signage, and more.
