Cleveland, OH – Cleveland State men’s basketball senior captain Algevon Eichelberger has been selected to the Preseason All-Horizon League Second Team, while the Vikes have been slated to finish seventh out of 12 teams, as voted upon by league head coaches, sports information directors and media members, the league announced Thursday, Nov. 5.
Eichelberger is coming off of his best collegiate season, appearing in 29 games (all starts), averaging a team-leading 14.5 points and 6.4 rebounds, while also dishing out 1.2 assists in 27.5 minutes per contest. The senior from Saginaw, Michigan notched four double-doubles during the 2019-20 campaign and poured in 10-or-more points in 25 of his 29 contests. A 2019-20 All-Horizon League Third Team member, Eichelberger was selected as a team captain for the Vikings this season.
Cleveland State, who was selected to finish in last place last season, has been picked to finish seventh this year. The Vikings, led by 2019-20 Horizon League Coach of the Year Dennis Gates, finished the 2019-20 campaign in seventh place, tallying an overall record of 11-21, including a 7-11 record in league play.
Wright State has been picked to finish first in the Horizon League, with newcomers Robert Morris and Purdue Fort Wayne to finish fourth and 11th, respectively.
Additionally, the league office has announced that Wright State’s Loudon Love has been selected as the Preseason Player of the Year.
