(Willoughby) - The Willoughby-Eastlake School District has made a decision to close all school buildings in the district, and go to virtual learning for the time being, this after positive cases of COVID-19 have been reported at two more school buildings.
The announcement was made in a letter from Superintendent Steve Thompson, emailed to parents, staff and teachers. In the letter, Thompson said that on Saturday, the district learned of exposure to COVID-19 at Longfellow Elementary and Jefferson Elementary Schools. He said "these direct exposures have impacted several staff members and students in multiple classrooms in both buildings, and have made it necessary to transition all persons in these buildings to virtual learning."
All students in the Willoughby-Eastlake Schools will transition to remote learning, starting Monday, October 12. In addition, all extracurricular activities have been suspended until further notice.
