Kasich Says His Conscience Drove Him To Support Biden

(Columbus) - Former Ohio Governor John Kasich will speak Monday night to the Democratic National Convention. The Republican says he chose "conscience over partisanship" in deciding to speak to the Democrats.

Kasich told The Columbus Dispatch that since he gave up his run for the Republican nomination for president four years ago, he had hoped for a transformation of Donald Trump. However, he says the president has divided us, not united us.

Kasich says, under Joe Biden, there won't be all this "fighting and demonizing." Kasich says he has known Biden for nearly 40 years, and says "it's not his history, it's not his style." Kasich has known Biden since Kasich was elected to the U.S. House in 1982, and Biden was a U.S. Senator at the time.
