(Cleveland) - The dollar figure for losses incurred by downtown businesses during the rioting and looting on May 30 is higher than first thought.
Joe Marinucci, president and CEO of Downtown Cleveland Alliance, told a county meeting Monday that members of the organization reported losses of $6.3 million from looting and rioting, as well as lost business. It breaks down to almost $3.4 million in damages, the rest, under $3 million, in lost business.
The Downtown Cleveland Alliance, the city, and county, have set aside money to help cover losses not covered by insurance.
