NE Ohio Town Declared "Sanctuary" For Statuary

(Newton Falls) - Statues of Christopher Columbus and other historic figures are welcome in Northeast Ohio town.

Newton Falls, northwest of Youngstown, is now a "Statuary Sanctuary City" thanks to an order signed over the weekend by city manager David Lynch. Lynch says that leaders weren't perfect, but they still accomplished great things.

Lynch's order means statues being taken down by other cities are welcome in Newton Falls. It issues a "general amnesty" for historical figures including Christopher Columbus, George Washington, Teddy Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln, and Francis Scott Key.
