Garfield Heights Police Defend Selves

(Garfield Heights) - Police are defending themselves in an excessive force lawsuit. Garfield Heights Chief of Police Robert Byrne has posted a video saying his officers were responding to two calls of an attempted carjacking and an armed robbery at the time of the incident, and they were in the mindset.

The federal suit claims officers didn't properly assess a man with mental illness before taking him down in January, causing several facial injuries.

Cuyahoga County prosecutors have dropped felonious assault charges against Kenta Settles after reviewing the officers' body camera footage.
