(PepperPike) – This city’s police chief has a very direct message for his officers in the wake of what has happened across the country.
After the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Pepper Pike Chief of Police Joe Mariola wrote on the city’s website that a few police officers use their authority inappropriately. The chief wrote, in all capital letters, “THIS MUST STOP. We hope it’s a rare few, but even one is too many.”
He was not referring to any of his officers.
The chief says his department serves by building relationships and positively impacting public safety. Chief Mariola wrote that if any police officer can’t serve with honesty, integrity and restraint, “GET ANOTHER JOB. You’re not worthy to wear the badge.”
