South Euclid Creates Virtual Substitute For Memorial Day Ceremonies

(South Euclid) – There will be no Memorial Day parades or solemn ceremonies this year in most Northeast Ohio communities, due to social distancing related to the COVID-19 virus.

However, the City of South Euclid has come up with an alternative. The city has created a video, which it says will allow the spirit of the parade to live on.

The city says this video will honor veterans, and those who have worked hard to get us through challenging times.

The video includes interviews with members of the city’s police and fire departments, veterans, residents, videos and photos from past Memorial Day Parades and a new poem written for the occasion by South Euclid’s Poet Laureate, Doc Janning. In addition, many residents contributed to the project by sending in their photos and videos.
