Toddler Dies In Crash

(East Cleveland) - Charges are being considered in a crash early Sunday morning in East Cleveland that took the life of a toddler. The crash is being called a "senseless tragedy that should have been avoided."

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says one-year-old Xavier Baker died when the car in which he was a passenger ran off East 133rd Street at 1:33 a.m. Sunday, and hit a tree.

Xavier was, at the time of the crash, sitting on the lap of his grandmother, 49-year-old Nadia Minor of East Cleveland. The car was being driven by a man described by the OSHP as Minor's boyfriend, Jay York, 60, of Cleveland.

Xavier died at University Hospitals.

The OSHP says alcohol and drugs are believed to be factors in the crash.
