Cleveland - After shutting down operations at The Salvation Army’s Family Store locations almost two months ago, the organization is excited to re-open their doors on Tuesday, May 12th.
“We are grateful to Governor DeWine for allowing retail businesses to re-open. While it won’t be back to business as usual, our doors will be open with some new guidelines in place,” stated Major Van Wirth, Administrator of The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Centers in Cleveland. “In developing these new guidelines, our priorities were the safety, health, and wellness of all those in our store locations. Our Family Stores are a critical part of our organization, however ensuring the protection of our customers and employees, was equally as important as we determined our re-opening plan.”
The new guidelines implemented for all Salvation Army Family Store locations effective as of May 12th, 2020:
- Hours of Operation: Tuesday thru Saturday 10am to 5pm
- Customers are being asked to wear face masks inside in the stores
- Employees will be wearing masks and gloves
- No more than 2 customers per 1,000 sq. ft.
- Proper social distancing must be maintained throughout the store
- Hand sanitation stations will be available in the store
The revenue from the sale of items in the stores goes to fully fund The Salvation Army’s Adult Rehabilitation Centers.
The ARC’s offer spiritual, emotional and social assistance to those who have lost the ability to cope with their substance abuse and provide for themselves. The Salvation Army's programs provide housing, food, counseling, community and employment as participants work to find the root causes and symptoms of their alcohol and drug dependency. The Salvation Army is well known for their donation centers & pick up services, which were also discontinued back in March due to the COVID-19 crisis. “Starting on May 12th, we would like to encourage those who have donations to drop them at nearest Salvation Army Store or Drop Box. We are not be re-activating our home pick-up services at this time,” said Wirth.
